Rascal Flatts News Update September - 22nd

Posted: 09-22-2009

Rascal Flatts recently played in St. Paul Minnesota to a sold-out crowd of about 14,000.  Read about it at twincities.com.  The article compares Rascal Flatts popularity to that of Garth Brooke in the late 90s making the pop charts part of a country music repertoire.  It is clear that Rascal Flatts can sell out venues but the article states that their newest album isn't as great as past ones considering only a few tracks off of their new album were played at the Xcel Energy Center.  I think it is a true test of musicians to blur the boundaries of their musical genre and spill over into another.  Rascal Flatts will not be waning this summer or next and the true fans will love their music no matter what charts they top.  It also helps to have country music crossover giant Darius Rucker to open for Rascal Flatts and to treat the MN crowd to one of their beloved musicians, Prince, with a cover of Purple Rain.

The Star Tribune reported that Rascal Flatts was booed for doing a song from Hannah Montana the movie.  (Click here to read the article at startribune.com)  The article also states that, "Rucker ignited Flatts on the encore when he belted "Hold My Hand" (his hit with Hootie & the Blowfish) with the star trio on lovely harmonies."  A true classic that surpasses any musical genre to be just plain old awesome music.  Rucker and LeVox also pumped the crowd up with "Life Is a Highway" a wonderful musical piece that has transcended musical boundaries and has recently appeared in the Disney hit movie 'Cars' that Rascal Flatts reworked for the movie.

Just in time for the upcoming holiday season Rascal Flatts will be releasing a greatest hits album.  Click here to see the track listing.  According to the article the album hits stores on October 6th with live concert recordings of some of their greatest tunes along with a poster from the bands current tour.  You can bet that the greatest hits album will sell quite a few copies and I will not be surprised to see it on the country music charts.

Rascal Flatts play some surprise tunes in Pittsburgh.  They did a cover of Beatles "Revolution" and were joined onstage by opener Darius Rucker to cover Hootie & the Blowfish "Hold My Hold".   Read about it at post-gazette.com.  I must mention that there was even a cover of Marvin Gaye "Let's Get It On".  Those songs must have been amazing covered by the well rounded Rascal Flatts we know.

Check out this other article from the post-gazette.com.  A fan's dream comes true, meeting Rascal Flatts.

If you cannot afford to get tickets to the Rascal Flatts September 12th show at Comcast check out the bostonherald.com to see how you can get free tickets with Meet and Greet and a free t-shirt.  You must follow the blog to see how to get them today.  Good luck!

Holy cow.  Rascal Flatts have sold over 4 million tickets in four years!  Read about it at CMT.com.  CMT.com also states that the Rascal Flatts album, "Unstoppable" is certified platinum.  That is a lot of album and ticket sales for Rascal Flatts, they truly are unstoppable.

The examiner.com also reports on the platinum album status.  (Click here to read about it)  The article mentions that Rascal Flatts have sold 10.5 million digital downloads.  No wonder Rascal Flatts has the most attended country act around.

If you would like to be entered for a chance to see Rascal Flatts for free check out OKmagazine.com.  As OKmagazine states it best Rascal Flatts is, "one of the hottest country acts touring today".  You have nothing to lose, only free tickets to gain.  The contest ends soon so don't delay!

Theboots.com has some more rare Rascal Flatts recordings on their site that you can listen to.  (Click here to hear them)  The tracks are also a part of the iTunes Summer of Flatts pass that I blogged about awhile ago.  It is not too late to get all of the Summer of Flatts tunes from iTunes.

Tonight Darius Rucker opens for Rascal Flatts at the sold out Blossom Music Center according to cleveland.com.  Click here to read the article.  CMT is also reporting that the Sunday show in Columbus, OH is also sold out.  No surprise with Columbus being the hometown of Rascal Flatts.  There will be 65,000 fans in attendance in Columbus not to mention that this will be the third concert in Ohio this weekend.  (Read about it here at CMT.com)

Rascal Flatts helps out a fellow musician when the stage collapsed because of a tornado which destroyed the equipment.  Read the article here.  I guess the show must go on.  Way to be good neighbors Rascal Flatts!

The tour promoting their new album "Unstoppable" is clearly underway and the band speaks about the new album.  Read about it here.  On the heels of a recent trophy for best vocal group at the Academy of Country Music Awards which happens to be Rascal Flatts seventh straight win in the category.  What a great way to continue their summer by playing some great country music and as the article states, adding "more dimension."  More dates have been added, check it out at livedaily.com.

According to news14.com in NC nothing will keep fans from seeing Rascal Flatts, especially not the economy.  See the video here.  Summer would not be summer without tailgaiting and seeing live music.  To fight the economy woes livedaily.com has even anounced ticket specials.  It seems that the concert promoters do not want the economy from you having a great concert experience, even if is at a discount.

Rascal Flatts is holding tightly to the number 6 spot on the top 10 country music charts with the song "Summer Nights".  See it here.  I am sure that the debut of four live Rascal Flatts tunes on iTunes with their Summer of Flatts iTunes music pass has helped keep them in the charts.  Listen to the songs here.  The music pass gets the listener 28 songs in total with iTunes automatically downloading four a week.

Rascal Flatts News Update June 23rd

Here's something we didn't cover in our last news update. On June 13th, after the Rascal Flatts show in Dallas Jake Fleming, a UCLA tennis player, was assaulted. His group was attacked by a group of young men, Jake was sucker punched, fell to the ground and hit his head on the concrete. He is now in a medically induced coma but is expected to make a full recovery. There is speculation that the two groups may have had a confrontation during the concert.

On the run for over a week, the young punk wanted in connection to the attack turned himself in yesterday. Chancellor Hutcheson is being charged with agravated assault, a second degree felony.

SporingNews.com has an interesting take on the whole affair with a story titled, Violation of the Man Code Leaves UCLA Tennis Player in Critical Condition.

Here are a couple Tweets from @rascalflatts after the show.
